Nothing says Easter quite like colourful eggs! We know you’ve seen chocolate eggs, boiled eggs and decorative paper eggs, but have you seen Easter egg soap bars?
This fun soap is great for the whole family to enjoy! It is made using melt and pour soap, so it is easy and safe to make at home. So if you’re looking for a fun family activity this Easter, or you want to fill your home with Easter themes, this soap recipe is perfect for you!
Let’s have a go at our Easter egg soap recipe…
Equipment:
- Digital scales
- Mixing spoon or spatula
- Oval soap mould
- Microwave safe bowl
- Plastic measuring cup
- Disposable gloves
Ingredients
Method
1. Prepare the soap mould
- To divide the soap mould into sections, place 3 pieces of cardboard across the oval mould like the photo above. This will help section off the parts we want to pour the soap into.
2. Mix essential oils and colour
- Weigh the essential oils and mix together.
- Split the essential oils into 4 separate bowls.
- Weigh the pink mica powder into one bowl of essential oil and mix.
- In the next bowl of essential oil, add the blue mica powder and mix.
- In the next bowl, add the yellow mica powder and mix.
- Now add the green mica powder to the last bowl and mix.
3. Cut the melt and pour soap base
- Take the block of melt and pour soap base out of the tub and cut it up into small 1cm cubes.
- Place your cubes into a heatproof bowl
4. Melt the soap base
- Melt the soap base in a bowl over boiling water, a double boiler or in a microwave in short bursts.
- Gently stir the soap mixture as you heat it.
- When the cubes start to melt together, separate them with a spoon or knife.
5. Add the colours and mica powder
- Pour the melted soap base into 4 containers, so each one contains an equal amount.
- In the first bowl of soap base, add the pink mixture and mix well.
- In the next bowl, add the blue mixture and mix.
- Then add the yellow mixture to the next bowl of soap base.
- Finally, add the green mixture to the last bowl of soap base and mix.
- You should have 4 bowls of different coloured soap bases.
6. Pour the soap into your mould
- In any order, pour each different colour mixture into a section, until the whole mould is full.
- Now take out the dividers and each colour should slightly combine, but not completely.
- Spray the top with isopropyl alcohol to reduce the bubbles.
- Now leave the soap to set for up to 6 hours.
- Once set, unmould the soaps and now it is ready to use!
TIP: Make sure everything is ready before you start melting the soap base, as you will need to work fast once it has melted.
If you do the last few steps too slowly, the melted soap base will start to set before you finish! However, if it does start to set too quickly, you can pop it back into the microwave to reheat it.
